stop the spread of HIV. please f*ck responsibly.

so i'm already hiv positive,
why the f*ck

should I care about condoms?

okay, that's a fair question.  you're already positive, why should you have to bother with condoms?

so, if you are having sex with a person who is also positive, obviously you're not going to give them HIV, right?  well, true enough, although you may be sharing with them a different or resistant strain of HIV that may not respond as well to their meds. You also may become infected with syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes, and genital warts, all of which can be much harder to treat in people with HIV and can make you sick.  it's your body, you've got to make the call.  just know that there are still risks even when two positive people hook up.

another important reason to wear a condom if you're positive, is to help keep your partners who are negative, from getting HIV.  sure they should be responsible for protecting themselves, but at the same time, you should care enough about your fellow man to either be up front about being positive (please don't wait to be asked) or better yet, when in doubt just use a condom. really, given the high HIV rate in DC, everyone should assume that their hook up is positive until proven otherwise.  In fact, a recent study showed that 40% of one sample group of 500 DC gay men, were positive and didn't even know it.

although you can lead a long and happy life as an HIV positive person, let's face it, you know it can sometimes be a pain in the ass to have a chronic disease and to have to remember to take daily meds and deal with side effects. so please do your part to help someone else avoid getting it if you can.

About us:  DCfukit.org is a grass roots community based prevention program developed by men who have sex with men specifically for our community. Our mission is to stop the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections in our community by teaching the facts about sexually transmitted infections and by providing free condom/lube kits to the community as tools to help reduce the spread of these infections.  DCfukit.org was developed by members of the Washington DC GLBT community and is supported by private donations and The Metro DC GLBT Center.  Enjoy your sexuality responsibly: choose condoms and other safer sex practices, or monogamy, or abstinence. Love yourself. Love your partners. Love our community.  Stop the Spread of HIV/AIDS and other Sexually Transmitted Infections.
