okay, that's a fair question. you're already positive, why should you have to bother with condoms?
so, if you are having sex with a person who is also positive, obviously you're not going to give them HIV, right? well, true enough, although you may be sharing with them a different or resistant strain of HIV that may not respond as well to their meds. You also may become infected with syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes, and genital warts, all of which can be much harder to treat in people with HIV and can make you sick. it's your body, you've got to make the call. just know that there are still risks even when two positive people hook up.
another important reason to wear a condom if you're positive, is to help keep your partners who may be negative, from getting HIV. sure they should be protecting themselves, but you need to care enough about your fellow man to either be up front about being positive (please don't wait to be asked) or better yet, when in doubt just use a condom. really, given the high hiv rate in DC, everyone should assume that their hook up is positive.
although you can lead a long and happy life as an hiv positive person, let's face it, you know it can be tough to have a chronic disease and take daily meds and deal with side effects. so please do your part to help someone else avoid it if you can.
